degster: "I won NAVI once, but you have to win them 9 out of 10 times"

OG player Abdul "degster" Gasanov has spoken about adaptation to the new team and plans for the future in a video on his YouTube channel. The Russian believes that now when he is not a stand-in but a full-fledged member of the squad, it is important to work on consistency.

As an example of the results of such work, the sniper cited the confrontation against NAVI, who OG defeated at BLAST Premier Spring Final 2021. He is sure that if everything is done properly, his team will regularly beat such strong opponents.

I don’t build high expectations, because stand-in is a stand-in role, you came here and you understand that there's nothing here to do except we just need to win the tournament all together or at least show the highest result we can show but now I’m on the team and I know we have some work to do to win against these teams for a long period of time. Not just once, but to keep the distance, it is very important, because, yeah, I won NAVI once, but you have to win them 9 out of 10 times at the very least. And do it in very important tournaments. It's a way more important result than winning top team once.

Gasanov also shared his expectations for the upcoming tournaments, at which OG will start the new competitive season.

RMR tournament qualifiers is the main tournament for us at the moment. We must start with the open qualifiers and then we’re playing the BLAST in Copenhagen, a super cool tournament, and I really wanted to play there. The opening round is us vs Vitality, NIP vs Astralis. As I know, Vitality’s trying to replace misutaaa, which means something is wrong in the team. But anyway, the team is really strong, with 3 or 4 times Major-winning players, and the match is not going to be easy for us. First of all, after qualifiers we need to get ready for the match with Vitality. Besides us there are NIP and Astralis, which are pretty easy to win, they are no FaZe or NAVI, but we already played with NAVI and even won, despite the fact I was a stand-in.

I think the most important thing is to get prepared well for the BLAST and our opponents, even though we don’t have enough time. We have to understand how to cooperate to win the teams, we did it before. The thing to remember is how we did it despite feeling nervous about not having enough time. It’s not my first open qualifiers, as you know, I played the Major semi-final recently, before that we worked hard to get a slot in RMR-tournament and then we went to the semi-final. I don’t think it’s going to be hard, especially because most of the strongest teams are already invited.

The first open qualifier for the upcoming European RMR tournament will kick off on August 15. Meanwhile, on August 13, OG will take part in an exhibition one-day event, which will be hosted by the club's sponsor, SteelSeries.
