American university team qualifies for ESL Challenger League

The team of Davenport University, which is located in the US state of Michigan, will take part in the next season of the ESL Challenger League. This is the first time in the history of the CS:GO competitive scene that a collegiate roster will make an appearance in a professional league.

A team called Davenport Panthers, which now features four Americans and one Estonian, made it to the ECL after a six-season journey, starting with ESEA Open, the lowest division in the tournament operator's structure. In the last season of ESEA Advanced, the team placed 3rd, which allowed for a historic climb.

At ESL Challenger League Season 42, the student roster will go up against such eminent clubs as Evil Geniuses, MIBR, TeamOne and ATK. The start of the online tournament is scheduled for August 16.

In the spring of this year, the Davenport University lineup was supported by one of the best professional players in North America, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski. The player from Liquid analyzed the team's match in detail and compiled a report where he pointed out the mistakes and gave some tips on what can be improved.
