Wisla Krakow ceases to exist

Wisla Krakow is pulling the plug on its operations, the Polish esports organization announced on its official website. The press release does not state the reasons for this decision and only notes that the liquidation process will be completed at the end of July.

Even though there is no official reason for the closure of the organization, Polish journalists suggested that this was due to FC Wisla Krakow's relegation from the country's top national league. The football club, which sponsored its esports division, thus intends to cut costs.

The last matches of the Wisla Krakow CS:GO roster took place at the end of May this year. At the time of the publication of the press release about the closure of the project, the only players who remained in the team were Krzysiek "Goofy" Gorski and Kamil "Sobol" Sobolewski, as well as coach Mariusz "Loord" Cybulski. All of them, along with the members of Dota2 and FIFA rosters, became free agents.

Wisla Krakow was created in 2019, entering the professional CS:GO scene right away. Throughout its existence, the Polish team has taken part mainly in national tournaments. Its best achievement at the international level was qualifying for the Play-In stage of the home LAN tournament IEM Katowice 2022, which saw it rise to a record 24th place in the HLTV.org world ranking.
