The regional distribution at IEM Rio 2022 remains unchanged

The representation of the regions at the next Major, which will be held in the fall under the name IEM Rio 2022, will be no different from that of PGL Major Antwerp 2022. The slots were distributed according to the results at the last Valve-supported tournament.

According to the standardized rules of Majors, each of the three regions, namely Europe, America and Asia, receives slots at the next event based on the previous success of their representatives. In the Legends Stage, places are allocated for the regions of teams from the previous Major’s playoffs, and the Challengers Stage spots go to the regions of participants from the top 16.

The slot distribution at IEM Rio 2022 and the teams that earned them:

Legends Stage

 Europe ( FaZe)
Europe ( NAVI)
Europe ( ENCE)
Europe ( Team Spirit)
Europe ( Heroic)
Europe ( Copenhagen Flames)
Europe ( NIP)
 America ( FURIA)

Challengers Stage

Europe ( G2)
Europe ( Vitality)
Europe ( BIG)
Europe ( Cloud9)
Europe ( Outsiders)
Europe ( Bad News Eagles)
America ( Imperial)
America ( Liquid)
+ 8 permanent regional slots: Europe – 3, America – 3, Asia – 2

The current Major-qualifying system does not imply direct invites, while the finalists of the previous Major, as noted above, only affect the slot distribution. However, the top 8 finalists, in case the lineup core retains (3 players), receive direct invites to RMR tournaments, bypassing the qualifying cycle.

At the moment, the information about the IEM Rio 2022 qualifiers has yet to be unveiled. The Major itself will take place from October 31 to November 13 in the same format: 24 teams will battle out a total prize pool of $1 million.
