ESL and Valve hint at holding Major in Brazil
Tournament operator ESL took to Twitter to post a video showing the Brazilian flag, the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and the caption "cs_rio". The ESL's message was retweeted by the official CS:GO account, which, according to the vast majority of the professional community, hints at the Major in Brazil.

The information about ESL and Valve's plans to organize a Major in Rio de Janeiro first came at the beginning of 2022. According to Dexerto, the tournament should be held from October 31 to November 13 of this year under the name IEM Rio Major.
The Major in Rio de Janeiro was supposed to take place back in 2020. The prestigious event, called ESL One Rio Major 2020, was announced, but subsequently canceled due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
In May 2021, Valve notified all tournament organizers of its intention to hold two Majors in 2022 and 2023. This year's first Major has recently come to an end in Antwerp, Belgium.
The possible Major in Brazil will be the first championship of such status in the history of the South American region. Previously, Valve organized its tournaments exclusively in Europe (14 times) and North America (3 times).
