ESL announces first women’s league season with $150,000 of prize money

Tournament operator ESL has announced the first season of the CS:GO women's league through a press release for the media. The championship with a total prize pool of $150,000 will take place from March 17 to June 5.

The event will feature 24 teams, and will be divided into three regions on the early stage: Europe, North America and South America. Each of the regions will have eight teams competing: two teams will be invited directly, while another six participants will be determined after open qualifiers.

Following the results of the regional championships, the two strongest teams from each region will advance to the finals of the first women's league season. The six teams will be joined by two Asia and South America wild card winners. The decisive matches of the league will take place as part of DreamHack Open Dallas 2022 from June 3 to 5.

ESL announced their intentions to hold a series of events for women's rosters in December last year. According to the announcement published, a total of $500,000 will be contested in women's tournaments in 2022.
