Golden released from fnatic

Swedish esports athlete Maikil "Golden" Selim, who was excluded from the main roster of fnatic in July this year, tweeted that he has canceled his contract with the organization. At the moment, he is a free agent and is considering options for continuing his career as an in-game leader.

Golden started playing for fnatic in 2017, having received an invitation from the British organization’s academy. Having won WESG 2017 and IEM Katowice 2018, Selim moved to Cloud9, but after an unsuccessful season he came back to fnatic, becoming the champion of several tournaments, including the prestigious ESL Pro League Season 11 and DreamHack Masters Malmo 2019.

During both of WePlay Academy leagues, Selim worked with the youth squad as a coach. Following the results of two seasons, fnatic Rising took the 3rd and 5th places, respectively.

A few months earlier, fnatic announced their decision to build an international roster, after which they replaced the coach and three players. The vacant spots were then given to British Jamie "keita" Hall, Alex "ALEX" McMeekin, William "mezii" Merriman and Owen "smooya" Butterfield.
