paiN player: "North America does not deserve five slots at the major"

Five slots at PGL Major Stockholm 2021 are too many for the North American region, according to the player of paiN Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato. Answering a question from a CSGO.ru journalist during a press conference dedicated to the start of the IEM Fall 2021 playoffs, the Brazilian noted that the professional North American scene, which is currently going through hard times, should not delegate the same number of participants to the main tournament of the year as the CIS.

Five slots both for the CIS and North America is just not fair. Perhaps, it made sense back when lots of players from the US and Canada were at the highest level of competitive CS, but it is not the case now.

North America does not deserve five slots at the major. The CIS, on the contrary, deserves them, as it is the strongest region in the world.

Let us recall that at PGL Major Stockholm 2021 the CIS will be represented by NAVI, Gambit, Team Spirit, Virtus.pro and Entropiq. In turn, Liquid, FURIA, paiN, GODSENT and the winner of the match for 5th place at IEM Fall 2021 North America between EXTREMUM and Evil Geniuses will represent the North American region in Sweden.

PGL Major Stockholm 2021 will be held from October 26 to November 7 and will be the first Valve’s event in more than two years. 24 participants will compete for the total prize money of $2 million.
