B1ad3: "It is not very helpful for flamie to just sit around, he needs to get back in shape"

NAVI coach Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy, in an interview to the club’s YouTube channel, commented on a decision to part ways with Egor "flamie" Vasilyev, who was excluded from the main roster this spring. According to him, the current state of the professional scene would not allow using the 24-year-old Russian as a sixth player, which is why the management decided to give him the opportunity to continue his career in another team.

Egor had no opportunity to play with us. Again, it is not very helpful for him to just sit around, he needs to get back in shape. As far as I remember, there were attempts to find him some other CIS team to play for, but.. It was certainly not down to price, we were ready to let him go. The chances are, the team decided not to change anything ahead of the major. That is why, apparently, it was decided to grant him a free agent status, so that he could find a place for himself. Given the schedule of tournaments and Valve’s rules, there is nowhere to fit a sixth player.

Commenting on a temporary appearance of flamie in the NAVI’s youth roster, Gorodenskiy noted that it’s a great opportunity to show his current form to clubs that might be interested in getting him.

He is already training with NAVI Junior. It would be good for him to prove himself in this period before the major, so that everyone could see his shape after it. He has not played for a long time, and many may doubt whether to sign a player without a test. It is necessary for him to show what he is capable of.

Vasilyev was officially granted free agent status on September 16. At the same time, it became known that he will play for NAVI Junior in the second season of the WePlay Academy League as a standin.
