ami: "All new players will get into NAVI only through the Junior-roster"

NAVI Junior coach Amiran "ami" Rehviashvili, in an interview with WePlay, noted that from now on all newcomers of the main squad will get there from the academy. According to him, this kind of approach to forming the roster will allow the organization to avoid huge expenses in the transfer market.

We have completely abandoned purchasing new players. NAVI is the only organization in the world with a player from the academy, who has worked his way up with us from the very beginning. There is no other roster like that. Valeriy is a great example that everything works just fine. And now we have m0NESY, who is also doing well. The others are yet to show what I see in them, but I’m sure that everything will be great in a year.

Besides, NAVI Junior is a media project. Our social networks are quite big; more than a 100 thousand followers on YouTube with lots of videos from bootcamps. That’s why the idea of the youth roster paid off 200%. Now it’s an important project for NAVI, which allows to develop players the way we need, boost social medias, and, of course, not spend money on transfers, because when NAVI wants to make a purchase, the price tag skyrockets. We have not bought a single player for two years, with the last being Perfecto. We will continue to work in the same manner - all new players will get into NAVI only through the Junior-roster.

Let us recall that NAVI announced the youth squad in mid-2019, when after the selection of candidates and the training camp NAVI Junior was formed. Subsequently, the organization also created NAVI Youth, where esports athletes, who do not fit into the Junior roster, compete.

Valeriy "b1t" Vakhovskiy was the first player to make it to the main roster from the youth lineup. At the end of 2020, he was a sixth player on the team, but later fully replaced Egor "flamie" Vasilyev in the starting five.
