PGL major could change the venue any time now

PGL general manager Silviu Stroie told SportExpressen about the problems in organizing the next CS:GO major, scheduled for the end of October this year. According to him, talks with the government of Sweden to provide a simplified visa regime for participants of the tournament are not successful, which casts a shadow on the whole event from Valve in the capital of the Scandinavian country.

There is no development right now. The major could be moved from Stockholm at any moment. We still hope to negotiate an easing of visa controls for players, but at this point there is no indication of whether this will happen or not.

Valve had changed their plans to host The International, the largest Dota2 tournament, in Stockholm. The reason for the denial was the inability to obtain visas for all tournament participants. Swedish authorities in their internal classification do not recognize eSports as a sport of elite level, which does not give players from all over the world the opportunity to come to the country.

According to an earlier announcement, PGL Major Stockholm 2021 will be held in the Swedish capital from October 23 to November 7. It will be attended by 24 teams, which will draw $2 million - the largest prize pool in the history of the majors.
