HLTV.org: zonic intends to leave Astralis after his contract expires

Astralis coach Danny "zonic" Sorensen is making up his mind about ending his cooperation with the Danish organization. This is reported by the authoritative portal HLTV.org with reference to sources close to the situation.

According to published information, 34-year-old specialist does not intend to extend the current contract with Astralis, which expires on December 31 of this year. The possible reason for this decision was the long tensions between the team and the club's management. The management is already considering candidates for the post of head coach, one of which is rumoured to be Heroic's specialist Nikolai "HUNDEN" Petersen.

At the same time, the source confirmed to HLTV.org rumours that Lucas "gla1ve" Rossander, Emil "Magisk" Reif, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Andreas "Xyp9x" Hoysleth are also considering continuing their careers elsewhere. The Astralis veterans will become free agents on Jan. 1, 2022, while Lukas "Bubzkji" Andersen's contract will not expire until next summer.

zonic has been the Astralis coach since the organization's inception in January 2016. Under his leadership, the team has won numerous prestigious championships, including four majors: the 2017 ELEAGUE Major, the 2018 FACEIT Major, the 2019 IEM Katowice and the 2019 StarLadder Berlin Major. In 2019 and 2020, Dane was recognized as the best coach.
