Heroic bench niko & b0RUP; add sjuush & refrezh

Heroic has dismissed Nikolaj "niko" Christensen and Johannes "b0RUP" Borup from the active roster. This was announced by the Danish club on Twitter.

niko and b0RUP have represented Heroic since April last year. The team has become the champion of such major European tournaments like ESL One Cologne 2020 and DreamHack Open Fall 2020 throughout this period. It is also worth adding that the Danes held first place in the HLTV.org rankings for three weeks in the second half of last season.

A few hours after that Heroic announced the acquisition of Rasmus "sjuush" Beck and Ismail "refrezh" Ali from the MAD Lions. The newcomers took the place of benched Nikolaj "niko" Christensen and Johannes "b0RUP" Borup.

CS:GO Team captain Casper “cadiaN” Møller says:

“We have had a successful run with the last roster but we feel that we can come even further with these changes to the team. Being in this situation, we are very happy that the new Heroic is capable of providing these changes so quickly, for the bettering of the team. I’m very excited to see this happen, and I’m confident both new players will work great in Heroic. With Omaken recently acquiring Heroic, we’re already seeing how agile and fast moving the organization can be. Not being afraid to make the changes needed for the team is an incredibly strong value to possess – something this move shows proof of. I would like to give thanks to both Nikolaj and Johannes for their hard work in Heroic, we achieved goals we could only dream of. I wish them the best of luck moving forward.”

refrezh and sjuush spent the end of last season in MAD Lions. During that time, the team finished 5th-6th at Flashpoint 2 and 9th-12th at IEM Beijing 2020 for Europe in major tournaments.

Rasmus “sjuush” Beck says:

Joining the Heroic family makes me feel at home, and I can’t wait to start working hard with the boys and prove that this team will be one to remember! This is an amazing opportunity for me, and I know that we’ll do our best to get some big wins!”

The debut championship for the renewed Heroic lineup will be ESL Pro League Season 13, which kicks off March 8.

Ismail “refrezh” Ali says:

“Since I got the offer from Heroic I’ve barely slept, because I couldn’t calm down. I’m so excited to be working with such talented and smart players, they’re really something special. The team and the organization have had an amazing year and it’s absolutely admirable what they have done. I’m very proud to now be a part of it, and look forward to work hard and to #BeHeroic!”
