IEM Global Challenge 2020 shifts online
IEM Global Challenge 2020, which was originally planned as a LAN event, will take place online. The organizers announced this decision due to the second wave of coronavirus in Europe, which made it impossible to gather teams from all over the world in one location.
The date, number of participants, and the prize fund of the championship remained the same - from December 15 to December 20, eight teams will split $500,000.
Currently, there are two teams in the IEM Global Challenge 2020 slot. FURIA won the IEM New York 2020 for North America and Heroic won the DreamHack Open Fall 2020.
Remaining six spotys will be awarded to the champions of European and North American parts of the IEM Beijing 2020, the best teams from the ESL ranking for North America and the CIS, as well as two teams from the same ranking for Europe.
