New record set for kills in single map at CS2 LAN tournament

23-year-old Bulgarian esports athlete Slaven "AwaykeN" Lyubenov, competing for the team INFURITY, has set a new record for the number of kills in a single map at a Counter-Strike 2 LAN tournament.

Lyubenov secured 62 frags in a match against Inner Circle Academy during the group stage of the Urban Riga Open Season 7 event, held in Riga, Latvia. INFURITY ultimately lost the map with a scoreline of 29:31.

AwaykeN broke the record previously set nearly a year ago by Alexander "Altekz" Givskov and Nils "k1to" Gruhne. Both players had recorded 60 frags in the match between AM and Nexus at Digital Crusade DraculaN Season 2.

This also marks the third-highest kill count for a single map in the history of CS2 (including online tournaments). Ahead of him are Adrian "xelex" Vincze with 67 kills and Dmitry "sstiNiX" Khlebnikov with 63 kills.
