CS2's player count drops for six months in a row

Average monthly player base of Counter-Strike 2 has declined again over the past month. In August 2026, the average player base fell by 3.28% (~28,000 players) compared to the previous month.

Peak player count in August also decreased compared to July, from 1.420 million to 1.331 million users. The statistics were provided by the analytics service Steam Charts.

In a recent update, the developers added the ability to create custom interfaces and player cameras for custom modes in Counter-Strike 2.
