Gentle Mates leave CS
French esports organization Gentle Mates has officially announced that it is ceasing operations with its Counter-Strike 2 roster and leaving the discipline. The team will continue to compete with its current roster under the Iberian Soul tag.
Previously, the club's co-founder, Corentin "Gotaga" Houssein, explained that high costs prompted the management to make the decision: according to him, the organization spent between €800,000 and €1 million annually on its CS2 squad.
Currently, Iberian Soul is 49th in Valve's official ranking of the world's strongest Counter-Strike 2 teams. The roster is currently competing in the open qualifier for Esports World Cup 2026.
Gentle Mates are now:
David "dav1g" Granado Bermudo
Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández-Quejo Cano
Pere "sausol" Solsona Saumell
Alejandro "alex" Masanet
Joey "CRUC1AL" Steusel
Daniel "djL" Narancic (coach)
