G2 part ways with malbsMd

23-year-old Guatemalan esports athlete Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa has departed G2's Counter-Strike 2 roster, getting benched. The official statement was made on the X social media platform.

Samayoa has represented G2 since June 2024, and was previously a member of M80. MalbsMd's average rating over the past three months is 1.02 (in 51 maps). Rumors suggest that Mario will be moving to Liquid, and that G2 will replace him with Guy "NertZ" Iluz.

G2 currently sits 12th among the world's top Counter-Strike 2 teams, according to Valve. The squad failed to qualify for the ESL Pro League Season 23 LAN finals, finishing 9th-11th at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 and 5th-6th at IEM Kraków 2026.
