FISSURE cancel Playground 3 and two other CS2 tournaments
Tournament operator FISSURE has announced the cancellation of its FISSURE Playground 3 Counter-Strike 2 event due to a scheduling conflict. The official statement, published on the X social media platform, reads:
The CS2 tournament FISSURE Playground 3, scheduled for April 20-26, 2026 in Shenzhen, has been cancelled due to a logistical conflict in the competitive calendar.
We explored a range of alternative scenarios and rescheduling options to keep the event on the calendar. Due to overlap with another major tournament in South America, players would not be able to reach Shenzhen in time for the start of our event - travel time exceeds 36 hours, and the time zone difference makes competitive participation unrealistic.
The company has also cancelled two other Counter-Strike 2 competitions scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
We have also decided to cancel two summer events previously scheduled for July 13-19, 2026 and July 12-19, 2027.
Our experience hosting FISSURE Playground 1 showed that tournaments held during the players break do not deliver the level of competition and spectacle that we are committed to providing our audience.
All other FISSURE tournaments will take place as previously announced. Further details will be shared in upcoming announcements. We thank the teams, partners, and community for your continued support and interest in FISSURE events. Work on future CS tournaments continues.
FISSURE Playground 3 was scheduled to take place from April 20th to 26th of this year in Shenzhen, China, with 16 teams participating. The prize pool of the event amounted to $450,000.
