draken takes a break
Johnny Speeds' AWPer William "draken" Sundin is taking a break from his pro playing career. He announced this via his X social media account.
We’ve been close to breaking through with Johnny many times, and it’s been a long, challenging journey. Johnny Speeds is something incredibly personal to me, in many ways it feels like my baby. I’ve poured my heart and soul into building it from the ground up.
Today, I’m the sole remaining player from the original five. Over the years, we’ve made roster changes and coaching changes, always striving to improve and take the next step.
Lately, though, I’ve come to realize that I have to take a step back from competing. Giving my everything for such a long time has taken a toll, and I need time to recover and regain my energy. This isn’t me ending my career — it’s simply me taking the time I need to come back stronger.
I will still be involved in the Johnny Speeds journey and continue supporting what we’ve built together. I care deeply about the Johnny team and organization, that will never change.
To all Johnnys out there, shifts happens, all I know is Johnny speeds is to the moon.
The 30-year-old Swedish esports athlete has been competing for Johnny Speeds since February 2024. His replacement on the roster is still unknown. The team currently sits 61st in Valve's official ranking of the world's strongest Counter-Strike 2 squads.
Johnny Speeds are now:
Anton "Sapec" Palmgren
Ludvig "HEAP" Alonso
Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson
Jacob "jocab" Nerheden
Adam "friberg" Friberg (coach)
