OverDrive: "There's a high posibility that upcoming RMR will be the last!"

According to unofficial information, starting next year, Counter-Strike 2 developers will completely stop holding qualifying RMR tournaments for Majors. Insider and scout Alexey "OverDrive" Birukov came to this conclusion, sharing it via the X social media.

There's a high posibility that upcoming RMR will be the last!

Birukov later explained via his Telegram channel what Valve's plan might be. According to him, the company may completely ban closed and partner competitions from different tournament operators, abandon open qualifiers and RMR events, and turn Majors into closed tournaments, which teams can enter strictly via direct invites.

Note that on May 31, tournament operator Perfect World announced details about the upcoming Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. Open qualifiers for RMRs will be held only in Asia; in other regions, participants of closed qualifiers will be selected based on Valve's official rating.
