Lionel Messi invests in KRU, club which plans to enter CS pro scene

Famous Argentine football player Lionel Messi has become a partner of the esports organization KRU. The club published a press release regarding the start of cooperation with the Inter Miami FC player via its social media accounts.

KRU are not currently represented on the professional Counter-Strike scene, but intend to enter it by 2024. Retired football player Sergio Agüero, the organization's founder, has announced his desire to assemble a main team and an academy roster, for which players from Argentina will compete.

KRU was founded in 2020. The club has since competed in various disciplines, including Valorant and Rocket League.

Notably, KRU have previously attempted to open a CS division. In February of 2023, the organization was close to signing Isurus roster, which eventually joined BESTIA. In September, they made an offer to Paqueta players, but they decided to join RED Canids.
